Melting Chocolate

Microwave Oven
Stove Top:
Double-Boiler

 Microwave Method:
Place chocolate in a glass measuring cup and set oven power to medium or medium-low. Using high can burn the chocolate. Cook for 2 minutes, or longer, standing next to the oven and checking the chocolate every 30 seconds or so, until the chocolate has melted.

 Stove Top: Double-Boiler Method:
Create a makeshift double-boiler: fill a small pot with cold water and then place a stainless steel bowl over it. Make sure that the bottom of the bowl is not touching water. Place the chocolate in the bowl and set the pot over high heat. Once the water has come to a boil, reduce the heat to medium and stir the chocolate around until it has melted. Chocolate is ready to use. You can't go wrong with this method, because you have more control over it by always stirring the chocolate around.
